Job Title: Supervisor (SUP-04)
Position Summary The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising, labor management, and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting and customer communication activities daily, including labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower. People management responsibilities include hiring and training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues and resolving problems. Under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for supervising the receiving, warehousing and shipping of products in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities, plan and assure continuous improvement.
Effectively keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues that affect operations.
Ensure the development of systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products in a safe and profitable manner in accordance with company policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Manage operations to meet prescribed productivity and service goals. Comply with terms outlined in the site's operating agreement with the client.
Implement and report ongoing cost‑saving measures. Provide ideas and suggestions for more efficient operations.
Meet all client‑specified KPIs and comply with quality system requirements.
Create programs to fairly and equitably supervise, counsel, and (where needed) discipline team members.
Provide direction and support to Human Resources; assist in hiring, training and professional development programs.
Assist in performance evaluation system for recommending promotions, wage increases and other HR activities.
Has overall training and evaluation responsibilities of warehouse staff.
Plan the daily work schedule by reviewing existing work orders, arrival notices and customer instructions.
Allocate duties to appropriate warehouse staff based on priorities.
Review pending jobs or trends, and plan for reorganization of warehouse space and changes in supply, equipment or staffing levels.
Train new staff, delegate training responsibility, and assess progress of trainees.
Provide guidance and advice as necessary regarding quantity and quality of work performed.
Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members acting as leads for lower‑level staff.
Keep Manager advised of progress or problems requiring attention on a daily basis.
Hold regular meetings with staff to assess overall status and discuss improvement ideas.
Assist in physical operations as needed.
Deliver results by leveraging the skills of the right people at the right time.
Maintain high motivation in team members to provide customer satisfaction.
Provide ongoing growth and development opportunities for team members.
Conduct annual performance reviews for team members.
Support adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Train team members on SOPs (corporate and client).
Skills & Abilities
Education: High school diploma or GED.
3 years’ experience in a logistics/distribution/relevant environment.
1 year experience in a supervisory role.
Preferred: Prior MHE certification or knowledge of basic MHE operation.
Completed forklift training program.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Familiar with RF scanners and WMS functions.
English (reading, writing, verbal) and business communication.
Basic to intermediate math skills for verifying quantities and inventory.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness.
Good organizational and personnel skills.
Strong communication skills, written and oral.
Strong leadership, supervision and planning skills.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends.
Participation in cross‑training metrics and willingness to assist as needed.
Adaptability to change and fast‑paced environments.
Willingness to work overtime as required.
Ability to work in unregulated temperatures ranging from mild to moderate.
