Registered Nurse (PRN) – Medical University Hospital Authority
Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse provides individualized, goal‑directed patient care to families and patients. The RN delivers safe, effective care and collaborates with the health‑care team to achieve desired results.
Job Summary/Purpose Provide competent nursing care using the principles and practices of the nursing process. Work schedule: 24 or 48 hour shifts, with 12‑36 hours per week.
Minimum Training and Education
Associate degree in nursing (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
Current licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations
Basic Life Support (BLS) – valid AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or equivalent.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – valid certification.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Ability to stand, sit, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods.
Capacity to lift and move patients or equipment up to 50 lbs.
Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for vital signs, injections, and physical exams.
Visual acuity and color perception sufficient for reading charts and monitors.
Auditory ability to communicate and respond to alarms.
Resilience to handle long shifts and stressful situations.
Compliance with infection control protocols and PPE use.
Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, and in a latex‑safe environment.
Additional Requirements Minimum one year of registered nurse experience. Selected positions may require respirator use qualifications or olfactory function.
