Job Description Assistant Director, Accounting
Classification Minimum Requirements Master's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.
The University of Florida is seeking a skilled and strategic Financial Reporting Team Leader to join our CFO Division. In this critical role, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of the University's comprehensive consolidated financial statements and other required external reports, along with providing essential support and strategic analysis to the University and its Component Units. Specific duties include:
Technical and Operational
Direct comprehensive financial reporting operations
Manage production of University's Annual Financial Report
Oversee external reporting and audit requirements
Provide strategic support to Colleges, Units, and Component Units
Customer Service
Creating and maintaining a customer‑centric environment
Ensuring high‑quality service experiences for both internal university departments and external stakeholders.
Leadership
Lead high‑performing financial reporting team
Create continuous improvement frameworks
Strategic Direction
Develop and implement innovative departmental strategies
Align financial reporting objectives with University's broader goals
Transformation
Drive ERP transformation initiatives
Ensure legal and regulatory compliance for financial reporting during system transitions
Communicate complex technical requirements effectively
Special Projects
Performs several special projects as needed
Expected Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
Required Qualifications Master's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.
Preferred
Certified Public Accountant or equivalent certification or eligible and willing to complete within two years.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Extensive knowledge/understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Experience managing and reporting on internal and external audit activities over financial reporting.
Experience with financial statement consolidation and reporting across a complex environment.
Experience using PeopleSoft and/or Workday Financial systems.
Experience with government or higher education accounting and/or financial reporting.
