Resident Engineer II-Engines

The Resident Engineer II-Engines is responsible for providing engineering input to engine manufacturing, design, and development projects assigned to him/her. This includes interfacing with cross functional teams consisting of engineering, operations (industrial engineering, production, and material procurement), sourcing, quality and service.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Working with engineering design group and engine production to design and validate new and current product designs.
Ensures end-of-line engine quality and applies deviations and supplier quality requests.
Specifies precise product functional requirements; modifies, tests, and integrates moderately complex components to produce final designs for production related changes
Evaluates the design's overall effectiveness, cost (including cost/benefit analysis), reliability (risk analysis), and safety.
Designs, develops, executes and evaluates production specifications and process validation plans for engine components; creates and reviews material part specifications and bills of materials.
Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize moderately complex designs for manufacturability.
Supporting production of engines in the plant as related to engineering requirements (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs)
Travel to other Generac facilities.
Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline
2+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy on multiple projects.
Production/assembly experience of engines including deviations, production methods, supplier quality, and testing.
Experience in new product design and development including materials (i.e., plastics, aluminum castings, sheet metal) and basic knowledge of material specs and use.
Demonstrated written communication and presentation skills.
Ability to translate technical information to all audiences.
Applies engineering knowledge and experience to improve products, services and processes.
Technical Skills to include 3D modeling.
MS Excel, MS Word.
Experience with machine design.
Previous experience with SAP or equivalent ERP.
