Remote work is generally not permitted due to the nature of data center operations and on-site support requirements. The role participates in a mandatory 24/7 on-call rotation to provide after-hours support and respond to critical system incidents and outages. Weeks of coverage vary depending on staffing. The IT System Administrator will manage complex, high-availability systems with a focus on virtualization, data center technologies, and data integrity in a sensitive healthcare environment. Job Summary

Install, configure and upgrade server and PC systems and software. Lead IT projects as assigned. Lead the planning, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our IT infrastructure. This role requires deep expertise in systems administration, networking, cybersecurity best practices, and knowledge of various technologies to ensure availability, performance, and security of enterprise systems. Major Job Functions

Install, assemble and configure computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals; manage cabling for new installations and office reconfigurations. Troubleshoot problems with server and PC systems, including e-mail, network and peripheral issues; perform repairs and corrections as needed. Serve as a technical resource to assist users and assume responsibility for a centralized help desk. Recommend hardware and software acquisitions, assess user needs, and provide justification for equipment and services. Instruct staff in standard business software and provide documentation as required. Assist with planning, design, and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software; stay current on hardware, software, and network technology and suggest modifications as necessary. Log and resolve hardware, software, and facility issues via help desk tickets in a timely manner. Monitor and initiate scheduled backup jobs; ensure successful execution and perform file restores as needed. Deploy and maintain end-user workstations; monitor and maintain the corporate network. Assist with preventive maintenance (PM) of facility-related equipment; support change control events and special work requests. Adhere to security and privacy requirements specific to healthcare (HIPAA/HITECH). Familiarity with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, vSphere, Hyper-V); VDI administration (Citrix, VMware Horizon). Experience with enterprise backup and recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam, Commvault). Knowledge of server hardware and storage technologies (HPE, Dell, Cisco USC; SAN/NAS). Administer Windows Server OS (2019/2022) and Active Directory; administer Linux Server OS (Red Hat Enterprise Linux). Maintain clear documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Act as final escalation for complex system issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent solutions. Apply security best practices, install system patches, and enforce configurations to comply with healthcare regulations and policies. Administer and maintain Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions to provide secure access to clinical and business applications. Implement, manage, and test backup and disaster recovery (DR) solutions to ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and availability. Manage and support core data center technologies (blade servers, SANs, NAS) and related hardware. Design, deploy, and manage server and desktop virtualization to optimize resource use and scalability. Maintain the organization’s IT infrastructure and ensure optimal performance and reliability. Adhere to all policies, standards and procedures and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Verifiable related experience may substitute for education. Experience: 5+ years of IT system administration experience, preferably in a healthcare or highly regulated environment; strong knowledge of computer, server, monitoring and network systems. Certifications/License: Relevant certifications (e.g., VCP, MCSE, Citrix Certified Administrator) preferred but not required. Position titles and supervision: None. Employment type
