Save Job

First Baptist Church of Hewitt, Texas, exists to make fully devoted followers of Christ in Hewitt and to the ends of the earth.

We are prayerfully seeking the person God is calling to serve as our next Associate/Assistant Pastor of Worship. If you love Christ, His church, and leading God’s people in heartfelt, Christ-centered worship while shepherding them with a pastor’s heart, we invite you to consider joining us. You will partner with our Senior Pastor to shape the future of worship at FBC Hewitt and serve as a pastor to the whole church.

Who We Are

First Baptist Church of Hewitt is a gospel-centered Southern Baptist church averaging around 200 in weekly worship. We affirm the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 and are committed to glorify God by making disciples who love Christ, love His church, and love their neighbors. Our worship is intergenerational, singing both old and new hymns in modern arrangements with a focus on replicable, congregational singing. We are in a season of renewal—seeking to simplify programs, strengthen biblical discipleship, and develop healthy leadership structures for the future. We are praying for a pastor-musician who will help us glorify God in worship and shepherd His people with joy.

What You’ll Do You will serve as both a worship leader and an associate pastor, helping shape a culture of Christ-centered worship and discipleship at FBC Hewitt. Your responsibilities will be divided between worship leadership and broader pastoral ministry:

Approx. 2/3 of your time.

Plan and lead Christ-centered, Scripture-saturated, prayerful worship services

Equip, shepherd, and expand a volunteer base of musicians and tech team members

Develop future worship leaders and strengthen congregational singing

Steward worship ministry resources, including budgets, AV/tech systems, and media tools

Pastoral Ministry Approx. 1/3 of your time.

Preach and teach as needed under the direction of the Senior Pastor

Provide multi-generational pastoral care, including counseling, visitation, funerals, and discipleship

Partner with the pastoral team in shaping worship and ministry to align with the mission of the church

Participate in long-term and short-term ministry planning with the pastoral team

You will report directly to the Senior Pastor and serve as part of the pastoral staff team.

We strive to intentionally love God, love each other and love the lost. We are an Elder led church that regards the scriptures of the Holy Bible as authoritative in all matters of faith, practice, and principle. This Church affirms as our doctrinal statement The Baptist Faith and Message of the Southern Baptist Convention as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention in 2000.

Our church is entering its 12th year of ministry and we currently meet at an elementary school, with hopes of one day having a home base from which to continue to carry the Gospel to our community and the world.

About the Role This is a part-time position with the hope of developing it into a full-time ministry. Under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, we are seeking an Associate Pastor to join our ministry to build young disciples for Jesus Christ. We desire someone who is experienced in discipling high school and middle school age youth. Because we do not have a “church building”, we desire someone who is willing to overcome logistical challenges and who thinks outside of the norm in order to carry out a biblically sound and safe ministry.

Our expectation is that this person will develop and implement a comprehensive program for our Core Areas of Ministry of preschool, children, and youth. Your key responsibility will be in the area of the Youth ministry with interactive oversight over the Director of Preschool and Children’s ministries. You will address the areas of group building, worship, discipleship, mission and outreach. The primary task of this comprehensive approach will be to intentionally love all where they are, to encourage everyone in developing their relationship with Jesus Christ, and to provide opportunities for nurturing and growth. This individual will also serve as an Elder on our Elder Team and serve the church at large with them.

If you are up to the challenge and would like an opportunity to build a ministry that is visionary, then send a cover letter, resume, and at least 3 references to
