Manage a portfolio of local government credits in Western states and assume leadership of a state, sector or key, high profile credits. Ensure accurate ratings through rigorous and timely credit analysis. Evaluate evolving credit factors such as local economy, financial performance, wealth and liquidity, and legal structures. Analysis will be done in the context of dynamic economic conditions and ESG considerations. Present these findings to rating committees on a regular basis. Build rapport with senior management teams and engage regularly with investors, intermediaries and the media, communicating critical credit views and demonstrating deep industry and company knowledge. Publish topical, insightful, forward-looking and transparent research reports for rated organizations as well as sector-wide and cross-sector credit themes. Collaborate at all levels within the organization and be responsible for coaching junior associates and developing their credit skills. Manage and foster relationships with the highest level of professional integrity, transparency and fairness. Adaptable and able to work with different technical tools and teams. Keen interest in and understanding of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence. Willingness to continuously learn, adapt, and implement new technological advancements to drive efficiency and innovation. Commitment to continually learn and grow, authentic and passionate about caring for and inspiring others, engaging with multi-cultural awareness. Education
Bachelor's degree required and Master's degree preferred. Skills and Competencies
Seven (7) years or more of credit and financial analysis experience, sector experience, or relevant other experience Substantial credit analysis experience including strong technical skills in accounting and financial statement analysis. Strong relevant quantitative aptitude with proven analytical skills. Solid understanding of capital structures and debt documentation. Ideally fundamental and deep knowledge of Western states including local governments in states covered by the San Francisco office including California, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Utah, Nevada and Hawaii Intellectual curiosity, honesty, thoroughness, sound judgment and ability to work independently and in a team, ensuring a free exchange of perspectives in an inclusive, open-minded and diverse environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills - able to communicate clearly and succinctly, both verbally and in writing. Ability to build strong professional relationships at all levels and represent the Moody's brand credibly and effectively. Diligence, efficiency, responsibility, sense of ownership and ability to meet tight deadlines with high quality outcomes. Demonstrated ability to produce effective and timely research on key credit trends and emerging issues. Adaptable and able to work with different technical tools and teams. Within Moody's Ratings, the US Public Finance Group (PFG) is responsible for the fundamental credit analysis that underpins the monitoring of existing debt ratings and the assignment of new debt ratings for public sector issuers in the municipal finance arena. Moody's San Francisco office covers local government credits in 11 states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
