Part-Time Call Specialist (In Office Position)
FirstLink is seeking a Part-Time Call Specialist to provide support to individuals reaching FirstLink by phone, text, or online chat. The Call Specialist will listen, de-escalate emotional and mental health crises, and refer to local community resources. Primary responsibilities include engaging with help-seekers across all FirstLink lines, including the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, 211 Information & Referral Helpline, and various regional or statewide crisis lines. A successful candidate will have some experience in crisis intervention or customer service, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
Provide support to individuals via phone, text, and online chat.
De-escalate emotional and mental health crises and offer appropriate referrals to local resources.
Engage with help-seekers across all FirstLink lines (including 988, 211, and regional/state crisis lines).
Maintain confidential and accurate interaction records as required.
Qualifications
Experience in crisis intervention or customer service; strong written and verbal communication skills.
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must be able to read, write, and follow oral or written instructions.
Minimum of 6 months' working experience in a call center, customer service, human service, or mental health field.
Schedule and Hours
Minimum 16 hours per pay period; up to 29.5 hours per week.
Call Specialists are scheduled for 4- or 8-hour blocks.
Availability until midnight several days of the week and weekend availability required.
Three 8-hour weekend shifts per month are required.
Training FirstLink provides extensive training. Training will begin January 15, 2026, with full-time hours (37-40 hours/week) during training. After training, part-time hours will be scheduled.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $18.00 per hour.
