Provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. Assist individuals with activities of daily living such as showering, bathing, toileting, or feeding as needed. Provide assistance and support with daily activities which include household chores, meal preparation, recreational activities, learning activities, and physical fitness activities. Accompany individuals on routine errands, and provide assistance as needed in accomplishing tasks. Represent the needs, wants, and interests of individuals served or supported by the program. Provide input on program planning and implementation for individuals. Document in accordance with policies and procedures and all pertinent laws and regulations. Develop and maintain effective communication and working relationships with other staff, families, and the general public. Drive clients to appointments, grocery stores, activities, and other locations based on client and department needs. What you’ll need to succeed
Must be able to drive clients to and from locations for their personal needs, in a personal or Columbus-provided vehicle. Must be 18 or older Must drive and have a valid driver’s license and car insurance Acceptable driving record based on motor vehicle record (MVR) Must be able to lift 40 lbs, push, pull, bend, kneel, stand or sit for sustained periods of time Experience supporting people with disabilities is preferred but not required, we will train Must speak, read and write English We are an equal-opportunity employer
