Summary Statement This is the entry level of practical nursing care. Positions report to a technical supervisor.
Essential Functions
Administers treatments as directed.
Takes and records vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration).
Pours, administers, charts and records medications.
Gives prescribed intramuscular and subcutaneous injections and inoculations.
Observes patient behavior and condition and reports changes to appropriate staff.
Records information on patients' charts.
Job Requirement Series Licensed Practical Nurse I
Possession of a Delaware Practical Nurse license, Delaware temporary license or multi‑state compact license.
Licensed Practical Nurse II
Possession of a Delaware Practical Nursing license or multi‑state compact license.
At least six months’ experience as a Practical Nurse.
Licensed Practical Nurse III
Possession of a Delaware Practical Nursing license or multi‑state compact license.
At least eighteen months’ experience as a Practical Nurse.
Conditions of Hire
All new hires are required to attend an in‑person, statewide mandatory New Employee Orientation on their first day of employment.
Pre‑employment Drug Testing: Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre‑employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.
Criminal background check: A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire. The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. The State of Delaware Executive Branch participates in the Federal E‑Verify system where the State will provide the federal government with each new hire’s Form I‑9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.

Selection Process The application and supplemental questionnaire are evaluated based upon a rating of your education, training and experience as they relate to the job requirements of the position.
