Part-Time Maintenance Worker
– City of Valdosta
Base pay range: $9.93/hr
Location: Valdosta, Georgia
Employment type: Part-time
Closing Date: Open until filled
Responsibilities
Mows grass, controls weeds and performs other grounds maintenance tasks in the city cemetery.
Edges and trims grassy areas as needed.
Plants, prunes, trims and sprays trees and shrubs.
Collects litter and leaves.
Assists in opening and closing cemetery gates.
Opens and closes graves using a backhoe.
Sets up and removes chairs and tents for special events throughout the city.
Maintains assigned tools and equipment.
Performs related duties.
Qualifications
Knowledge of grounds maintenance practices.
Knowledge of grounds equipment operation, maintenance and repair principles.
Knowledge of safe work practices.
Skill in the operation of grounds maintenance equipment.
Skill in decision making and problem solving.
Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
No experience required.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
