This position performs street and drainage system maintenance and repair duties. An incumbent in this position may be designated “Maintenance Worker II.”
Overview
Maintains and repairs ditches.
Maintains catch basins and headwalls.
Maintains and installs drainage pipes.
Flags traffic at work sites.
Maintains assigned vehicles and equipment.
Makes sidewalk and curb repairs.
Repairs street water and sewer cuts.
Installs road signs.
Operates a backhoe, tamper, and other equipment.
Operates a variety of hand and power tools.
Performs related duties.
Qualifications
Knowledge of street and drainage system maintenance principles.
Knowledge of the tools and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of city infrastructure.
Knowledge of safe work practices.
Skill in the operation of assigned vehicle equipment.
Skill in the operation of hand and power tools.
Skill in decision making and problem solving.
Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
No experience requirements.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
