Position Summary Information Job Description Summary The School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture (APLA) at Auburn University is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor in Landscape Architecture for a one-year (nine-month/two semester), non-tenure track position commencing in August 2026.
We offer undergraduate (BLA) and graduate (MLA) programs, and our curriculum emphasizes design process, fieldwork, landscape advocacy, research by design and interdisciplinary collaboration. The candidate will teach core studio sequences and subject tracks, and may also teach elective seminars or advanced studios within the Alabama Lab.
Responsibilities include teaching, service, and research. The successful candidate will maintain an active scholarly program disseminated through appropriate disciplinary venues.
Minimum Qualifications
Master of Landscape Architecture degree or Bachelor of Landscape Architecture plus a terminal degree in a related field at the time of employment.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Eligibility to work legally in the United States for the term of employment.

Desired Qualifications
Evidence of outstanding design skills, capacity to sharpen landscape history and theory offerings.
Experience with contemporary drawing and modeling techniques (e.g., analog media, Rhino, Grasshopper, ArcGIS, digital fabrication).
Professional teaching experience, professional registration, and/or advanced degrees in Landscape Architecture or related fields.
Strong design philosophy grounded in contemporary practice.
