Location: 6905 Knightdale Blvd, Suite 106, Knightdale, NC 27545
Schedule: Monday‑Thursday 7:00 am‑5:00 pm, Friday 7:00 am‑4:00 pm
No weekends
No holidays
Summary The Medical Assistant I, Certified provides routine clinical and administrative support to providers and other health‑care team members in an outpatient clinic setting. The Medical Assistant I, Certified works under the clinical supervision of the provider for patient‑care activities, and under the general direction of the designated manager/supervisor for non‑clinical responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Performs rooming and intake process, collecting vital signs and patient data for reason of visit.
Collects patient/family data, including medical and social history.
Reviews current medication list, allergies and preferred pharmacy.
Assists provider during treatments, examinations and procedures.
Collects specimens and performs phlebotomy.
Administers medications under provider direction.
Performs tests (e.g., EKG, eye exams) under provider direction.
Reviews patient record to determine routine health screenings.
Ensures exam/procedure room has appropriate supplies, equipment, forms and educational materials available.
Provides patient with after‑visit instructions and educational materials.
Prepares, cleans, stocks and maintains exam and treatment rooms.
Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
Assists with registration, check‑in/check‑out, appointment scheduling, tests, treatments and referrals.
Answers clinic phone and assists in‑basket under provider or nurse direction.
Assists in emergency situations as directed by provider or nurse.
Other Information Education Requirements
No specific education required as long as other qualifications are met.
Completion of a Medical Assisting program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES is strongly preferred but not required.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
Requires Medical Assistant certification by AAMA, AMT, CCMA, NRCMA or NCMA.
Basic Life Support certification from AHA or ARC required.
Professional Experience Requirements
Prior medical assistant or externship experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements
Ability to perform essential functions of the position.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Positive engagement with patients and teams.
Computer proficiency to document into EMR.
