Join our sitework division of J. Davis Inc. to operate skid steers, mini excavators, compaction equipment, dozers, and off‑road trucks across South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina. We are building a team of experienced and entry‑level operators who drive performance, safety, and quality.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Maintain and safely operate the following equipment, with minimal oversight:
Skid steers for fine grading; use forks for loading & unloading
Mini excavators for erosion control, trenching, and fine grading
Compaction equipment to meet specified compaction requirements
Off‑road trucks for hauling or moving material on site
Dozer for rough grading and mass dirt movement; general GPS system operation
Excavator for loading trucks and rough grading
Train and assist crew members on trenching, rigging, and equipment operation as needed.
Read and follow entire equipment manuals; complete assessments under supervisor direction.
Perform daily and monthly maintenance and inspections; notify supervisor of routine maintenance.
Ensure all safety rules and environmental regulations are followed at all times.
Read, understand, and apply GPS technology and survey grade stakes.
Keep equipment clean and free of trash.
Enforce safety procedures and comply with job‑site safety requirements from job to job.
Skills & Abilities
Physical stamina: standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Experience running heavy equipment: dozer, track hoe, skid steer, mini excavator.
Proficiency in rough grading, fine grading, and backfilling.
Ability to read civil drawings, project specifications, and CEPSI reports.
Knowledge of storm drainage layout is a plus.
Mentor and train junior operators and skilled labor.
Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving, and teamwork skills.
Positive, can‑do attitude; optional CDL A.
