The Sports Instructor will provide leadership to different age groups all while promoting a high-energy, fun and positive environment for program participants! You will be responsible for the planning of sports programs and supervision of different age groups in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA.

Pay is $16.60-$18.00 per hour with opportunities to grow within the organization.

Scope of Responsibilities

Plans and implements sports/specialty programs in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA. Coordinates activities which are culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate.

Teach the fundamentals of sports/specialty program area by understanding program participant’s age/skill level.

Supervises a group of youth and/or adults to ensure their health and safety, and to provide a positive experience for each person.

Communicates with and maintains a positive relationship with parents/guardians.

Provides day-to-day guidance to staff and volunteers.

Maintain and promote a fair, consistent discipline code to all players.

Ensure all equipment and gear is accounted for and maintained, notifies supervisor of equipment issues.

Assists with development of special events and activities.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age.

Must have prior experience sports/specialty experience (i.e. Playing, Coaching, etc.).

Comfortable working with multiple age groups.

Experience in basketball, pickleball and volleyball required; flag football, floor hockey, and soccer preferred.

Child Abuse Prevention

Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor.

Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children.

Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor.

Completing all child abuse prevention training as required.
