Description The
Sports Instructor
will provide leadership to different age groups while promoting a high‑energy, fun and positive environment for program participants. Responsibilities include planning sports programs and supervising various age groups in accordance with YMCA goals and policies.

Scope of Responsibilities
Plan and implement sports/specialty programs in line with YMCA goals and policies; coordinate culturally relevant activities.
Teach fundamentals of sports/specialty program areas based on participant age/skill level.
Supervise youth and/or adults to ensure health, safety and a positive experience.
Communicate with and maintain positive relationships with parents/guardians.
Provide day‑to‑day guidance to staff and volunteers.
Maintain and promote a fair, consistent discipline code for all players.
Ensure all equipment and gear is accounted for and maintained; notify supervisor of issues.
Assist in the development of special events and activities.
Requirements
At least 16 years of age.
Prior sports/specialty experience (e.g., playing, coaching).
Comfortable working with multiple age groups.
Experience in basketball, pickleball and volleyball required; flag football, floor hockey and soccer preferred.
Child Abuse Prevention
Report any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests.
Follow all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in facilities and programs.
Report any suspicious behavior or policy violations to supervisor.
Complete all child abuse prevention training as required.
Education & Experience Preferred educational background and relevant experience will be considered but are not mandatory.
