Maintenance Worker
The City of Virginia Beach Public Works Department is currently hiring a
Maintenance Worker
to perform a variety of tasks in the Stormwater Maintenance division, duties to include: Duties
Occasionally operate light automotive equipment and specialized maintenance equipment, such as concrete saw, pole saw, etc. Perform a variety of manual work to perform required maintenance on drainage ditches and systems. Assist with loading/unloading materials. Assist with cleaning and maintenance to ensure proper methods/techniques are utilized, including storm water drainage structures, culverts, manholes, pipe mains, concrete, metal, and plastic pipe. Carries tools, equipment, and supplies to/from the job site by truck and/or by hand. Service/perform minor repairs on equipment. Serves as a flagger to direct traffic around construction on the roadways. Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge, and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads and department needs. This position is ALPHA 1 and is required to work during all inclement weather (flooding, hurricanes, snow, etc.). Benefits
