Overview
Utility Systems Repairer-Operator role at U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The incumbent repairs and operates multiple utility systems in the Cincinnati Medical Center facility.
Base pay range $32.27/hr - $37.79/hr
Responsibilities
Operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair utility systems including air conditioning systems, central chilled water plants, pumps, fans, and air handling units.
Monitor and control systems through main control terminals, printers, and associated controls and monitor points throughout the medical center.
Oversee Pneumatic Tube System, air operating system, and all related terminals.
Maintain Medical Gas Systems (liquid oxygen, medical air, medical vacuum, nitrogen, nitrous oxide) with piping, controls, valves, and compressors.
Service Steam Distribution System including piping, valves, regulators, converters, and economizers for heating, cooking, cleaning, and sterilization.
Maintain Water Distribution, fire protection, deionizer water systems, and wastewater disposal systems.
Support Electrical Distribution System, including feeders, transformers, circuit breakers, receptacles, and emergency generators (KW 225–440) for emergency power.
Manage Natural Gas Distribution and associated equipment for heating and cooking.
Oversee Vertical Transportation Systems (dumbwaiters and elevators) and related controls.
Maintain Refrigeration Systems, including refrigerators and freezers, compressors, condensers, and piping.
Support Miscellaneous Communication Systems (MATV, overhead paging, nurse call, and fire alarm systems).
Work schedule on rotating shifts; details discussed during interview; virtual not applicable.

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality to perform the work. Duty locations and context The Cincinnati VA Medical Center (CVAMC) supports two main campuses (Cincinnati, OH and Fort Thomas, KY) and multiple outpatient locations. The incumbent will routinely operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair the listed utility systems at CVAMC and related sites. Work may involve ladders, platforms, mechanical rooms, and other confined spaces.
