Job Summary and Qualifications JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a PICC RN to join our healthcare team. Your primary function is to deliver competent and clinically appropriate placement of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) Lines and/or Midlines as ordered. You will be required to demonstrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology of central line placement/peripheral vascular, aseptic technique, ability to confirm line placement via chest x-ray, successful placement of a PICC three or more times under direct supervision of a Certified PICC nurse, and knowledge of maintenance and care of catheters. You will work with a phenomenal team that cares like family and works together in a collaborative manner.
In this role you will:
Demonstrate knowledge and application of the nursing process.
Assess patient past and current medical history including laboratory values, venous and musculoskeletal status pertinent to PICC placement.
Inserts PICC line and IV catheter, determines placement via x-ray follow-up, and documents the procedure.
Plan, evaluate and implement interventions for solving IV related patient care problems.
Maintain aseptic technique during PICC placement to minimize patient discomfort and trauma.
Demonstrate critical thinking and assessment related to vascular access devices.
Provide patient education about PICC (or midline) insertion and post-insertion care and maintenance.
Provide facility nurses/staff instructions about PICC (or midline) care and maintenance.
Keep current on IV advances in IV therapy.
Job Requirements
Associates Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required; Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred
Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license required. Compact license holders have 60 days to obtain the Florida license after relocation
BLS-AHA Provider card required within 30 days of start
ACLS required within 6 months of starting
PALS preferred
PICC Certification course required within first 90 days of start date
1+ years of Critical Care experience preferred
