Responsibilities

Engage customers and patients, greet them, and offer assistance to ensure a positive customer experience.

Model and share customer‑service best practices with all team members to create a distinctive and delightful experience.

Develop strong relationships with the most valuable customers.

Assist in pharmacy practice under pharmacist supervision, complying with state, federal, and company policy.

Utilize pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information accurately.

Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs; verify medication correctness and check for interactions.

Assist pharmacists with scheduling and workflow maintenance.

Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to company policies and the Quality Improvement Program.

Follow Walgreens policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all prescription dispensing activities.

Register all related sales on the assigned cash register, collect and handle cash as required, and assist customers with locating products.

Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention, including calls to physicians.

Process and correct manual claims for third‑party prescription services efficiently.

Lead pharmacy‑department inventory management activities: ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.

Maintain knowledge of asset‑protection techniques, and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods.

Analyze and work to improve pharmacy financial, customer‑service, and inventory performance data.

Assist pharmacists with clinical services such as collecting and labeling blood/urine samples.

Support the Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in building and maintaining relationships with local medical providers.

Support the Pick‑up program.

Maintain the pharmacy department’s appearance and cleanliness, ensuring adequate supplies.

Coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers in processes and tools to drive efficiency.

Comply with all company policies and maintain respectful coworker relationships.

Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Training & Personal Development

Maintain PTCB or ExCPT certification through the designated training program.

Attend training and complete required PPLs; acquire continuing education credits.

Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge and skills in healthcare and pharmacy.

Basic Qualifications

PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).

One year of pharmacy‑technician experience in a retail or hospital setting.

Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except where covered by a collective bargaining agreement).

Preferred Qualifications

Prior work experience with Walgreens.

Basic math skills (counting, measuring, weighing medications).

Basic PC skills (computer use, mouse, program switching, filing).

Knowledge of store inventory control.
