Position Summary The Estimator Engineer at Mack Studios is responsible for producing accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates for custom retail displays, architectural millwork, trade show exhibits, and specialty fabrication projects. This position blends technical engineering expertise with cost analysis to ensure every bid reflects Mack Studios' commitment to innovation, craftsmanship, and quality.

Key Responsibilities Estimate Development

Review and interpret design drawings, 3D models, and technical specifications.

Determine required materials, finishes, hardware, and fabrication methods for each project.

Calculate labor hours for in-house fabrication, finishing, assembly, and installation.

Identify and recommend value engineering opportunities without compromising design intent.

Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination

Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotes for specialty materials, outsourced fabrication, and services.

Maintain strong relationships with key vendors to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.

Bid & Proposal Support

Prepare detailed, itemized cost breakdowns for sales and project management teams.

Participate in pre-bid meetings to clarify scope, design intent, and deliverables.

Ensure all estimates meet client requirements, timelines, and quality standards.

Cost Data & Process Improvement

Maintain historical cost databases to enhance estimate accuracy over time.

Analyze completed project costs versus estimates to identify areas for improvement.

Collaboration

Work closely with design, engineering, and project management teams to ensure technical feasibility and budget alignment.

Support change order pricing and assist with client negotiations as needed.

Provide mechanical engineering assistance when required to support project execution and problem-solving.

Qualifications Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Construction Management, or related field; equivalent experience considered.

Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in architectural millwork, custom retail display, cabinetry manufacturing, or a related fabrication industry.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting CAD drawings, 3D renderings, and technical documentation.

Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Excel.

Skills & Competencies

Strong mathematical, analytical, and spatial reasoning abilities.

Exceptional attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in cost calculations.

Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.

Clear and professional communication skills for both internal and client-facing interactions.

Ability to assist in mechanical engineering tasks when necessary.

Work Environment Primarily office-based with the option for hybrid remote work. Occasional travel to client sites, vendor locations, and trade shows as required.
