Summary An Advanced Practice Provider functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high quality, cost effective care to patients within the APPs scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities
Clinical: obtains relevant history, performs assessment, reviews tests, develops diagnoses, implements treatment plans, prescribes medication consistent with guidelines, conducts preventive screening, maintains records, manages workflow and productivity, performs procedures, participates in projects to improve productivity.
Education: educates clients/families, collaborates with team, develops materials, provides instruction to clinicians and staff, attends educational programs.
Leadership: provides instruction and precepting, participates in outreach, leads community programs, demonstrates understanding of healthcare context and improves delivery, leads systems improvements.
Professional: interacts respectfully with patients, families and team, responds quickly to customer needs, accepts responsibility and shares workload.
Quality/Research: engages in continuous improvement, consults with management, leads interdisciplinary teams, initiates protocol revisions, influences policy, develops new clinical programs.
Education Requirements
Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (i.e., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina.
Board certification if required by the Department.
DEA registration.
Professional Experience Requirements
No prior experience required.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements
Demonstrated clinical competency.
Effective leadership skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills.
Effective interaction to ensure successful patient care in clinical setting.
Documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing.
