What We’re Looking For:
Compassionate, proactive communicator with strong crisis intervention skills
Minimum 2 years of mental health/chemical dependency experience preferred
Master's Degree in social work, counseling, or related field required
Current Louisiana licensure as LCSW, LMSW, CSW, or LPC required
Familiarity with DSM IV diagnostic criteria preferred
Strong documentation, referral coordination, and patient advocacy skills

What You Will Do: Provide patients with timely assessments, crisis intervention, and coordinated referrals to behavioral health or social services. Serve as a liaison for patients, their families, and community agencies seeking access to appropriate psychiatric and medical care.
Respond to inquiry calls and document intake accurately
Schedule and conduct in-person assessments in the Emergency Department and medical units
Provide crisis intervention, discharge planning, and psychiatric referrals
Consult with on‑call psychiatrists and coordinate insurance pre‑certifications
Refer non‑admission candidates to appropriate community resources
Submit accurate daily activity and special data reports
Mentor and orient new staff; serve as a resource for complex admissions
Monitor and improve admission process effectiveness and propose enhancements
Assist with medical social service needs in the ED, including social service consults, abuse evaluations, and trauma support
Represent BRG at community collaborative initiatives
