The University of South Dakota, the state’s flagship university, is now accepting applications for adjunct clinical instructor positions in the Department of Dental Hygiene. The position is in the School of Health Sciences which houses a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene program.
As an adjunct clinical instructor for the Department of Dental Hygiene, School of Health Sciences you will oversee the delivery of care to patients in our dental hygiene clinics by teaching and directing dental hygiene students in all aspects of the dental hygiene process of care.
Responsibilities
Oversee and instruct dental hygiene students in the care of patients
Laboratory, pre‑clinical and/or clinical instruction to dental hygiene students
Assist dental hygiene students as they generate comprehensive treatment and prevention/management plans for their patients; ensure the treatment plans are comprehensively developed, appropriately adapted to the patients needs, and correctly sequenced to manage patient oral health needs
Work with staff, students and patients to ensure patients receive high‑quality care, and students receive a clinical education that meets the standards of the Department of Dental Hygiene
Support all clinical policies and procedures of the University of South Dakota, School of Health Sciences, Department of Dental Hygiene
Attend department meetings to stay current with the Department of Dental Hygiene policies, teaching methods, and best practices.
Additional responsibilities may include committee assignments and service
Qualifications Required
BSDH
Current South Dakota License, or eligible for licensure
South Dakota Certification to administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation or eligibility to obtain certification
In good standing with the State of South Dakota Board of Dentistry
Preferred
MSDH or related field or current enrollment in a graduate program
5 or more years of clinical experience
Experience in preclinical or clinical teaching at accredited Dental Hygiene Program
