Position Overview The primary responsibility of the Coordinator - Catering & Conference is to coordinate the day-to-day needs of Group Catering & Conference Planners to ensure a superlative guest experience for both the Catering & Conference Planner and the Group. They are looked upon to ensure daily postings for assigned groups are accurate and error free. The role requires a high presence on the floor to ensure that groups receive the highest quality experience. This role is critical for building strong relationships with new and repeat clients and driving loyalty and repeat business. All duties are performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Ensure general appearance and condition of Congress Center is in proper order and quickly report maintenance issues to facilities

Work with Meeting Services, Facilities, and PAD to ensure all areas are coordinated and working in tandem to produce an outstanding Meeting Experience for our guests

Demonstrate a sense of urgency on behalf of the building when responding to client requests

Display a passion for Guest Service and Operational Excellence at all times

Build strong lasting professional relationships with the CCM team, all Operational Departments involved in Group Activities and with new and repeat customers

Show sensitivity to individual needs

Promote teamwork and a culture of continuous improvement

Ensure all events are set to the Banquet Event Order (BEO)

Supports and encourages the department through acts and deeds

Additional Duties & Responsibilities

Must be able to make sound customer focused yet prudent financial decisions when offering compensation when service failures occur

Actively participates, leads, and inspires team members in Daly Serenades

Displays a passion for guest service and operational excellence at all times

Earns respect and leads with respect

Promotes an atmosphere of team member empowerment and collaboration

Able to build strong lasting professional relationships with the CCM team and all operational departments involved in group activities

Promotes teamwork and a culture of continuous improvement

Check all function and non-function space for proper lighting, temperature, cleanliness.

Accurately manage changes from the client for events for both Food and Beverage, Meeting Set, and AV needs.

Complete Daily Group Log in an accurate and tactful manner

Attend the Daily BEO Meeting if and when required

Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

21 years of age

Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States

College degree or degree within the Hospitality field preferred

1-year minimum experience in 500+ room Resort/Hotel preferred

Must be able to obtain and maintain an Alcohol Awareness Card (TAM) and a Healthcard and any other certifications or license, as required by law or policy.

Working knowledge of both meeting room sets and basic catering functions.

Must have a working knowledge of Word, Excel, MS Outlook - EBMS (preferred) – Social Tables (preferred).

Able to work across functional areas to improve ability to execute group needs

Able to read, understand, and interpret BEOs, GTD Sheets, and Client Specs

Able to produce BEOs from Client Specs

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both spoken and written form

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.

Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements

Lift or carry 75 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.

Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.

Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.

Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.

Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.

Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
