Director of Finance
We are seeking a
Director of Finance
to lead accounting, financial planning, and analysis for a rapidly growing grocery brand rooted in sustainability and innovation. This role combines strong financial stewardship with strategic insight, supporting leadership as the business scales in size and complexity.
As the company’s first dedicated finance leader, you will build the financial foundation, including systems, processes, controls, and reporting, while serving as a strategic partner to the executive team. You will ensure accurate, compliant financials and help guide decisions related to growth initiatives, including new stores, products, and operational investments.
Key Priorities (First Phase):
Assess current accounting and finance practices and establish a scalable, GAAP-compliant financial foundation
Partner with HR to standardize and ensure accurate, timely payroll execution
Evaluate and strengthen A/P, A/R, and month-end close processes to support growth
Refine P&L and cash flow reporting and implement a regular review cadence with leadership
Build, train, and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team with clear roles and accountability
Implement a structured budgeting, forecasting, and variance review process
Core Ongoing Responsibilities: Financial Reporting & Accounting
Own monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
Lead month-end and year-end close in accordance with GAAP
Oversee all accounting functions, including A/P, A/R, and general ledger
Serve as primary liaison for external accounting partners and audits
Maintain strong internal controls and financial systems as the company’s source of truth
Financial Planning & Analysis
Develop financial models to support pricing, new products, store openings, and strategic initiatives
Lead annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting cycles
Support long-term financial planning, including 3–5 year growth scenarios
Translate financial results into clear, actionable insights for leadership
Cross-Functional Partnership
Partner with Operations, Merchandising, HR, and Technology to ensure accurate forecasting inputs
Manage headcount and overhead reconciliation in collaboration with HR
Support system selection, implementation, and optimization across finance tools
Ensure transparent, consistent financial communication across the organization
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
CPA required; deep GAAP expertise essential
10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including senior accounting or controller-level responsibility and at least 5 years in FP&A
Experience supporting a rapidly scaling business
Background in DTC e-commerce and physical retail preferred, with exposure to inventory and supply chain economics
Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
Experience working with ERP systems
