This role is critical to bringing structure, visibility, and strategic financial leadership to a growing organization while maintaining the values and agility of a family-run business.
Position Summary The
Director of Finance
will own the financial health of the organization, overseeing accounting operations, financial planning and analysis, budgeting, reporting, and internal controls.
This is a
hands‑on leadership role
that combines strong technical accounting expertise with strategic thinking. You will work closely with the CEO and leadership team to provide clear financial insights, support decision‑making, and help guide the company through its next stage of growth.
Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Strategy
Partner with the CEO and leadership team to develop and execute financial strategy aligned with growth goals
Build financial models, forecasts, and scenario analyses to support expansion and investment decisions
Advise leadership on cash flow, profitability, cost structure, and capital planning
Accounting & Financial Operations
Oversee all accounting functions including GL, AP, AR, payroll, and month‑end close
Ensure accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
Bring discipline and structure to financial operations while remaining practical and efficient
Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting
Lead annual budgeting and ongoing reforecasting processes
Track performance against budget and clearly explain variances
Prepare and present monthly financial reports with actionable insights
Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
Own cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning
Optimize working capital, including inventory, receivables, and payables
Manage banking relationships and support financing activities as needed
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax and regulatory requirements
Coordinate audits, tax filings, and external reviews
Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies
Team Leadership
Lead and develop the finance and accounting team (currently ~5 team members)
Set clear expectations, goals, and accountability
Foster a culture of ownership, accuracy, and continuous improvement
Qualifications Required Experience
5–10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience
Strong background in
inventory accounting, product‑based accounting, and cost accounting
Experience owning the full finance function in a growing business
Skills & Competencies
Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
Strong financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting skills
Experience working with ERP and accounting systems
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities
Clear, confident communicator able to explain financials to non‑financial leaders
Preferred Experience
Experience in high‑growth or scaling environments
Background in industries such as distribution, manufacturing, construction, or services
Experience working closely with owners, founders, or executive leadership in a family business
What Success Looks Like
Accurate, timely, and reliable financial reporting
Clear visibility into margins, costs, and performance drivers
Strong cash flow control and working capital management
A finance function that operates as a
