Tax Manager / Senior Tax Manager

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager / Tax Manager to lead and manage tax engagements for a diverse client base. This role is responsible for overseeing tax compliance and planning, managing client relationships, mentoring and reviewing staff work, and partnering with firm leadership on technical and operational matters. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, leadership experience, and a proactive advisory mindset.
Lead and manage complex tax engagements, including:
Individual (Form 1040)
Partnerships (Form 1065)
S Corporations (Form 1120-S)
C Corporations (Form 1120)
Review and approve tax returns and related workpapers prepared by staff and seniors.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Oversee multi-state and complex tax matters.
Identify and implement tax planning strategies to minimize tax exposure and manage risk.
Advise clients on entity structuring, estimated taxes, SALT issues, and transactional planning.
Research complex tax issues and provide technical guidance to clients and internal teams.
Client Relationship Management
Serve as the primary advisor and point of contact for assigned clients.
Lead client meetings, explain tax positions, and present planning recommendations.
Proactively manage client expectations, timelines, and deliverables.
Team Management & Development
Supervise, mentor, and develop tax staff and seniors.
Review staff performance and provide coaching and technical feedback.
Assist with workflow management, scheduling, and engagement planning during busy seasons.
Collaborate with partners and leadership on firm initiatives and process improvements.
Stay current on tax law changes, regulations, and best practices.
Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards.

Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of progressive tax experience , with management responsibility
Active
CPA license
Strong expertise in federal, state, and local taxation
Proven experience reviewing complex returns and leading tax engagements
Experience managing staff and client relationships
Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills
Preferred
Public accounting background
Experience with multi-state and complex tax planning engagements
Prior manager-level role in a CPA firm or advisory practice
