Job Description HPM is seeking a Project Manager 1 or 2 (DOE) based out of our Englewood, CO headquarters. This position provides project team leadership and has overall and bottom-line responsibility for the success of the project. The candidate must be capable of leading a $15M - $50M project.

About HPM Inc. HPM is a General Contractor located in Englewood, Colorado with a focus in three primary working groups: Federal, Commercial, and Civil. We work all throughout the front range and select locations throughout Colorado, as well as key projects out of state including our secondary office in Anchorage, AK. We pride ourselves in managing clean, organized, and professional projects from start to finish with an emphasis on successful client relationships. Much of our work is for repeat clients including local governments, private clients, and the federal government. We utilize proven project management fundamentals on each of our projects.

Pay Range Project Manager 1: $115,000-130,000 Project Manager 2: $130,000-145,000

Minimum Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in construction management, construction engineering, or a related degree; or comparable work experience

At least 10+ years of experience in commercial, civil, and / or federal construction industry

OSHA 30 certification

Preferred Qualifications

USACE CQM certification

Duties & Responsibilities Safety

Leads and drives the safety culture – leads by example

Proactively places a high priority on safety at all times

Performs regularly scheduled jobsite safety audits

Sets expectations with the project team and subcontractors and holds them accountable for both safe behavior and maintaining a safe jobsite

Ensures jobsite reporting is occurring in accordance with company procedures

Quality

Ensures that appropriate defect prevention, quality control, and quality assurance plans and procedures are in place for the proper execution of the work

Periodically audits field operations to ensure compliance with quality program

Leads project quality staff and is capable of performing their duties if necessary

Compliance

Ensures full compliance with and administration of all project general contracts and subcontracts

Ensures that permits are obtained as necessary to facilitate the project schedule, including building, fire, health, right-of-way, stormwater, etc.

Ensures understanding of occupancy certificate processes in all relevant jurisdictions and agencies

Ensures that inspections and documentation is kept up on site in accordance with applicable permits

Scheduling

Ensures that the project schedule is maintained, updated, communicated, and implemented in accordance with HPM’s commitment to the project, the owner, and trade partners

Is capable of and may be required to generate and update project baseline schedules and all other project scheduling requirements

Project Administration

Leads project team to ensure project administrative tasks (e.g., RFIs, submittals, procurement log, project engineering tasks, etc.) are being completed timely, and is capable of performing these duties if necessary

Develops professional relationships with project owner, design professionals, and trade partners

Promotes among HPM’s project team, constructive working relationships and a firm-but-fair approach with the project owner, design professionals, and trade partners

Maintains overall responsibility for the project through the warranty period and beyond as required

Cost Control

Is a steward of project cost, understands where every dollar is being spent, and makes the best financial decisions for the project

Thoroughly reviews the project estimate with the preconstruction team upon project award

Follows HPM procedures for project setup, including establishing the project control budget

Establishes and maintains project cost control using HPM’s systems and procedures

Monitors and manages all costs and budgets for the duration of the project

Leads in the preparation of month-end reporting each month

Procurement / Tracking

Ensures that all subcontracts are executed in support of the project schedule

Ensures that long lead materials are identified and incorporated in the project schedule

Ultimate responsibility to track long lead procurement to ensure adherence to the schedule

Field Execution

Ultimate responsibility that the project is built in accordance with the plan, specs, and schedule

Makes regular site visits and engages with field personnel on a regular basis

Contract Administration

Reads and is familiar with all construction and contract documents, and changes, including:

Owner contract agreement and general conditions

Plans, project manual, all specifications, and geotechnical reports

Subcontracts and material contracts

Recognizes issues that are changes to the contract and manages the process to track costs, facilitate resolution, and / or procure compensation for these changes

Ensures proper documentation and tracking of change events in Procore

Leads change order pricing and processing

Ensures that all changes are evaluated for their impact on the project schedule and costs

Understands and facilitates resolution for issues that are changes to the contract

Performs and incorporates Time Impact Analysis as required

Teaches principles of subcontract writing and negotiation, and prepares complex subcontracts for execution

People Development

Provides direct management and oversight, timely performance evaluation and feedback, training, and career development support of direct reports including all field staff

Provides leadership to the entire project team, both internally and externally, beginning at the issuance of construction documents

Basic Requirements

Must be over the age of 18 to apply.

A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required, as per company standards.

Deep commitment to safety, working closely with team members to prevent accidents / injuries.

Solid computer skills including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook) and Bluebeam with a willingness to adapt to new software. Experience with Procore, Microsoft Project, and scheduling tools are a plus.

Solid understanding of quantity tracking and how it relates to production and budget.

Collaborative team member capable of autonomously achieving deadlines, goals, and objectives.

Ensure consistent and punctual attendance, demonstrating reliability and regularity.

Complete tasks within designated deadlines during standard operating hours and be available for overtime and weekend work as necessary.

Work safely and efficiently, adhering to both oral and written instructions, including safety protocols, equipment guidelines, and company policies.

Sit, stand and / or walk for extended periods of time.

Ability to lift 25+ pounds frequently.
