General Summary The Superintendent is responsible for managing daily field operations on Valley Corporation projects, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality. This role supervises crews, subcontractors, and equipment on site while coordinating closely with Project Managers to align field execution with project schedules and budgets. The Superintendent is a key leader in driving productivity, safety culture, and client satisfaction.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily field operations for utilities, paving, and site development projects.

Supervise and direct crews, foremen, and subcontractors to ensure productivity and quality.

Enforce Valley’s safety policies and regulatory compliance; lead daily safety meetings and inspections.

Schedule and coordinate labor, equipment, and material needs to maintain efficiency.

Monitor progress and adjust plans to meet project schedules.

Review drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure compliance with project requirements.

Communicate with Project Managers on cost tracking, change orders, and project risks.

Resolve field conflicts and issues in collaboration with engineers, owners, and PMs.

Maintain accurate daily logs, production reports, and field documentation.

Support start-up and closeout activities, including punch lists and as-built documentation.

Coach and mentor Assistant Superintendents and crew leads to build Valley’s next generation of leaders.

Skills, Knowledge, And Qualifications

Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, including utilities, grading, earthwork, and paving.

Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contracts.

Strong leadership and communication skills with ability to manage multiple crews and subcontractors.

Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in the field.

Familiarity with scheduling, cost tracking, and field reporting software.

Ability to work collaboratively with PMs, engineers, and owners.

Requirements

Experience managing large-scale projects, with contract values of $10 million or more.

5–7 years of progressive field construction experience (utility, earthwork, or paving).

Proven supervisory experience in leading crews and managing subcontractors.

OSHA 30 certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).

Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel between job sites.

Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and walk entire job sites.
