Human Resource Assistant Live in Madison, WI. Join our Human Resources team as a team player who appreciates what we do. The successful candidate will assist with the administration of various HR areas, including payroll, benefits, FMLA, recruiting, new‑hire onboarding, and record‑keeping.

Responsibilities

Daily administration of benefit programs—life, health, dental, vision, disability insurance, FSA, retirement plan, FMLA, and COBRA—and communicate changes to employees.

Prepare health insurance tracking reports to ensure ACA compliance and audit benefits for accuracy; responsible for benefit reporting.

Participate in benefit renewal meetings and provide necessary data.

Ensure timely completion of compensation and benefit surveys.

Assist with recruiting: job postings, resume screening, interviews, background checks, and preparing job offers.

Assist with new employee onboarding.

Assist with various audits.

Retrieve and review insurance billings, submit to accounting for processing and payment.

Answer inquiries about employment verification and reference checks.

Maintain payroll data—hours worked, PTO, tax withholding, insurance, 401(k), and other employee information; generate reports as needed.

Review calculated wages and payroll changes, correct errors, and ensure payroll accuracy.

Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes, overtime, and deductions.

Enter service award payments, employee referral bonuses, progressive and annual pay increases into the payroll system; process payroll.

Perform all other duties as assigned by the Human Resources Manager.

Hybrid arrangement: may work remotely but must be available to work onsite in Madison as needed.

Qualifications

Two (2) or more years of Human Resource experience required; HR certification or degree preferred.

Understanding of and experience with benefits highly preferred.

Familiarity with employment laws such as FMLA, ADA, EEO required.

Talent acquisition/recruiting experience required.

Experience with a Human Resource Information System required; UKG experience is a plus.

Payroll experience highly preferred.

Strong interpersonal, customer service, organizational, collaboration, and communication skills, including document preparation and giving/receiving feedback.

Math skills—including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers and decimals.

Ability to maintain attention to detail and accuracy.
