Artful Home is a gallery, art fair, and online marketplace dedicated to connecting artists and art lovers. We are seeking a Human Resource Assistant to support our HR team in Madison, WI. The role involves administering payroll, benefits, FMLA, recruiting, onboarding, and record‑keeping.
Responsibilities
Daily administration of benefit programs (life, health, dental, vision, disability, FSA, retirement plan, FMLA, COBRA).
Communicate benefit information and changes to employees.
Prepare health insurance tracking reports to ensure ACA compliance.
Participate in benefit renewal meetings and provide necessary data.
Complete compensation and benefit surveys.
Assist recruiting: job postings, resume screening, interviews, background checks, and job offers.
Support new employee onboarding.
Assist with audits and insurance billing review.
Respond to employment verification and reference inquiries.
Maintain payroll data (hours worked, PTO, tax withholding, insurance, 401(k), etc.) and generate reports.
Check and correct payroll changes, prepare periodic wage, tax, overtime, and deduction reports.
Enter service award payments, referral bonuses, pay increases into payroll system.
Perform additional duties assigned by the Human Resources Manager.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of Human Resources experience; HR certification or degree preferred.
Strong understanding of benefits administration; familiarity with employment laws (FMLA, ADA, EEO).
Experience in recruiting and talent acquisition.
Proficiency with Human Resource Information System; experience with UKG is a plus.
Payroll experience preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, customer service, organizational, collaboration, and communication skills.
Basic math skills.
Detail‑oriented and accurate.
Compensation Salary: $45,000 – $59,000 per year.
Location Madison, WI. This hybrid position may allow remote work but requires presence in the office as needed.
