Full‑time clinical nursing position in the Division of Medical Genetics and Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine. The role delivers exceptional nursing care to pediatric patients with rare genetic disorders, provides medication administration, care coordination, interdisciplinary case conference participation, and direct patient care in accordance with established nursing protocols.
Responsibilities
Deliver safe, therapeutic patient care in a supportive environment.
Perform medication administration, infusion coordination, and monitoring for treatment side effects.
Provide phone management, chart review, care coordination, triage, and problem management for patients and families.
Communicate lab and other test results; assist with medication refills and orders for labs and imaging.
Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences, team meetings, and shared decision‑making.
Assist providers and staff with patient‑related paperwork, including letters of medical necessity.
Support enzyme replacement therapy programs by communicating with pharmaceutical companies’ patient‑care programs.
Maintain a safe and therapeutic patient care environment and provide leadership and guidance to team members.
Problem Solving & Ability to Perform Essential Functions
Demonstrated potential to perform essential functions with or without accommodation.
Provide care to the population served and demonstrate leadership, human relations, and effective communication skills.
Function during regular shifts and maintain mental and emotional stamina in high‑stress situations.
Assess patient's status, apply department policies and procedures, and provide appropriate life‑span growth and development care.
Minimum Qualifications
Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system (within 30 days of hire).
Current Utah registered nurse license or obtain one within 90 days (interstate compact acceptable).
Required additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP) within one year of hire, if applicable.
Immunization in accordance with CDC standards and hospital policy.
