Position Description

This role will provide engineering technical expertise and support in the Metering department of Engineering and Operations, including engineering design, project management, contract administration, budget preparation, technical assistance, and testing and evaluation of engineering standard equipment and designs to provide optimum reliability and efficiency. Oversight and management of the NERC CIP requirements for associated facilities and devices. Specifies material and equipment required for assigned projects and assists in the evaluation of suppliers and products. Provides technical expertise and support to other areas and customers related to automation activities. Acts as a project engineer/manager for metering projects. Position-Related Responsibilities

Designs Meter systems and related equipment required for effective monitoring and maintenance of electrical generation, high voltage transmission, distribution systems, and customer/industrial metering. Evaluates and recommends equipment and/or components available to meet project requirements or improve existing installations in a way which optimizes cost and reliability. Develop new Metering standards as necessary. Establish major project requirements for both regulated and non-regulated business activities. Provide technical evaluation of incoming equipment for trial inventory, and provide vendor bid evaluation, alliance review, and equipment specification evaluation. Assist the Engineering Management to develop O&M and Capital budget that are accurate and comprehensive and monitor them for adherence. Assist in departmental or interdepartmental training to assure proper operation and/or maintenance of equipment. Initiates job tasks (work orders) and tracks expenditures as may be required to complete project assignments. Leads formal and informal meetings concerning assigned projects and is able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel both in the office and field crews. External representation of section requirements, methods, and procedures. Communicates effectively with business peers, IT peers and vendors to solve business/technical problems and provide appropriate technical solutions. Provide technical support to field crews for Metering Services section priorities in line with the needs of T&D. Develop and update the software for the automated distribution capacitor program. Assist Engineering and Control Area Operation in the implementation and operation of the program and troubleshooting of problems. Check data from devices connected to a modem or network devices. Sarbanes Oxley and internal Auditing procedure documenting and compliance record keeping. Implement metrics that allow Meter trending for problem analysis and corrective action. Provide oversight of the data analysis and reporting of analysis. Implement procedures to allow for annual ACC data compliance and reporting. Assist in generating service orders to ensure compliance with annual ACC reporting. Provide support for other corporate divisions (UES) as requested by Supervisor. Provide oversight and implementation of the Metering reconciliation process and procedure. Track meter vendor software versions, meter program revisions, and meter firmware. Upgrade all systems and hardware required to implement upgrades as required. To supervise or perform metering design on new projects, equipment checkout and performance monitoring. Collect, evaluate, and provide equipment recommendations on a routine or as‑needed basis. Continually increases personal understanding of utility business functions and processes. Report to designated Supervisor and perform various assignments as requested. This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Engineer I

Description: Will have primary responsibility for small modification or revision projects. Will assist more experienced engineers in large projects. Will assist in the review and revision of Distribution material and design standards. Qualifications: BS degree in Engineering, from an ABET accredited institution, with less than two (2) years professional experience in an engineering role. Must have basic understanding of C based programming languages and understanding of Database structure. Must have a basic understanding of modern cyber security best practices and network topologies. Engineer II

Description: Will have primary responsibility for small to medium sized projects and will assist more experienced engineers in large projects. May require close supervision on new aspects of assignments. Act as the project engineer for assigned projects. Create standards and process or procedures as needed or requested. May be assigned to perform technical studies as needed. May have several projects assigned at the same time. Works well with personnel from Field and Office in various disciplines. Completion of Fundamentals of Engineering, F.E. exam and registration is preferred. Qualifications: Minimum qualifications of Engineer I with two (2) or more years professional experience, or Master of Science degree from an ABET accredited institution. Shall have strong analytical capabilities and requires close supervision on new aspects of assignments. Acts as the technical project lead for assigned projects. Ability to estimate cost of various types of construction and installation. Physical equipment layouts and elevation drawings. Manufacture drawing review and approval. Develop specifications for construction of various projects. Create and modify devices setting files for design application. Creation of bill of material for project procurement requirements. Must be familiar with various communication network topologies, communications protocols and SCADA systems. Engineer III

Description: Will have primary responsibility for medium to large projects and act as the project engineer/manager. May have several projects or studies assigned at the same time and may assist other engineers in large projects. Will direct the designs of technicians when necessary. Can represent TEP when meeting with other Companies or organizations. Qualifications: Minimum qualifications of Engineer II with four (4) years or more professional experience in an engineering role with at least two years at an electric utility company or illustrate equal competency. Is a self‑starter and has developed good time management skills, completing all assignments on time. Has developed good leadership skills and is fully comfortable leading meetings and speaking in front of others. Factory acceptance testing review and approval of results as a company technical representative. Develops procedure(s) for various functions within department’s range of responsibilities with oversight. Develop facility studies for interconnection and operation customers. Ability to evaluate and implement changes that result in process or operating efficiency increases. Interpret Planning memo requirements for the development of project scope of work with technical, economic and sequencing of project all considered for an optimized design. Requires technical guidance and supervision on non‑standard assignments projects. Engineer IV

Description: Will have primary responsibility for projects of any size or complexity and act as the project engineer. Follows approved standards in design with minor modifications. Will assist in training of less experienced engineers or technicians. Will provide technical guidance and direction to other departments as needed. Arizona Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) is preferred. Qualifications: Minimum qualifications of Engineer III with six (6) years or more professional experience at an electric utility company in an engineering role or illustrate equal competency. Is able to work independently. Requires minimal supervision in project assignments and requires technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems. Time management, technical knowledge, and economic consideration are exhibited in all assignments. Capable of developing specifications for various equipment and construction practices. Basic technical leadership skills have been developed.
