Job Summary Responsible for technical engineering activities within an Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) Engineering Lab. Duties include developing and owning technology strategies, processes, and procedures for electric meters and all devices with integrated communications, communication network access points and relays, and legacy electric meters. The AMI Engineering team maintains an electric meter “farm” and collaborates with Entergy’s Operating Companies, AMOC, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
Provide technical guidance within the AMI Engineering Lab.
Maintain meter calibration standards per Public Utility Commission (PUC) requirements.
Create and update lab procedures for meter and communication equipment processes.
Develop and update meter testing programs using tools such as the WECO 2150 Test System.
Conduct sample testing of new and existing meter stock as required.
Program meters for various metering services, including delivered/received power usage for distributed generation (solar, wind, biofuels, etc.).
Maintain a database of meter test results using management software.
Manage meter inventory and RMA processing.
Qualify and vet firmware and manufacturing changes.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial) from a four‑year accredited institution.
Engineering‑technology degrees may be considered, especially with PE certification.
Minimum Experience Required
Engineer I: 0+ years of relevant experience
Engineer II: 2+ years of relevant experience (1 year with an M.S.)
Engineer III: 4+ years of relevant experience
Senior Engineer: 6+ years of relevant experience (5+ years with PE)
Preferred Experience
Hands‑on experience with testing equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, digital calibration tools).
Programming experience in Python, C++, or microcontroller languages.
Networking experience, including configuring communication hardware, wireless protocols, cyber‑security, and data routing.
Knowledge of AMI meters or experience with metering standards.
Required Competencies Technical mastery of engineering principles; in‑depth knowledge of procedures, programs, and standards; strong leadership, communication, and project management skills; ability to work under pressure and prioritize multiple activities. Familiarity with National Electrical Safety Codes and the National Electrical Code is required.
Certificates / Licenses
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Travel Up to 25% travel.
