We are looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to join our Rexel team in North Carolina! Remote

Summary The Senior Analytics Engineer is a hands‑on technical expert and adept business collaborator responsible for building, operating, and scaling the company’s transformation, enterprise data, and semantic layers. This role requires a skilled communicator and SQL expert who excels at working closely with business stakeholders to distill requirements and logic and apply consistent implementation patterns to varying domains and use cases. The Senior Analytics Engineer will design, build, and maintain dbt models and macros, test specifications, and technical definitions of key measures and dimensions. This role is highly technical, collaborative, and oriented toward serving data with an emphasis on validity, ease of use, and business relevance.

What You’ll Do

Data Transformation Development: dbt Models and Macros: Contribute to the development of models and macros to unify disparate sets of ERP and other data, load sophisticated dimensional models, and expose meaningful metrics and dimensions to business users in a business delivery/semantic layer

dbt Tests & Data Validation: Devise means of verifying data validity and operationalize through a combination of dbt Tests and other monitoring/observability capabilities such as Monte Carlo monitors and Atlan data asset health status. Partner with Data Governance and Business intelligence teams to ensure that tests evaluate meaningful dimensions of data quality and are appropriate in severity based on the data being tested

Collaboration & Delivery: Logic & Definitions: Participate in and help facilitate collaboration between business units, analysts, and BI developers to translate business rules, KPIs, and operation logic into technically feasible definitions

Cross-Functional Technical Collaboration: Work closely with Data Platform Architects and Data Engineers to ensure coordinated progress across end-to-end data pipelines

Operational Reliability: Pipeline Monitoring & Incident Response: Leverage tooling to monitor transformation, unification, and Enterprise Data refresh jobs for failures, delays, and data anomalies. Contribute to and follow runbooks for identifying, escalating, and resolving issues appropriately

Data Trust & Observability Support: Partner with Data Platform, Data Engineering, Data Governance, and BI Teams to implement trust and observability infrastructure as it pertains to data transformation using tools such as Atlan and Monte Carlo. Diagnose and collaborate to resolve errors, test failures, and data refresh delays

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data analyst roles, working with cloud-native, code-first tools

Expert dbt Developer: Hands‑on experience creating, maintaining, and optimizing dbt Cloud resources such as models, tests, snapshots, macros, and exposures. Familiarity with configuring and leveraging dbt Packages for additional functionality

4 Year / Bachelor's Degree - Required

Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field

Collaboration & Communication: Ability to work effectively with engineers, analysts, and business partners, clearly communicating requests, enablement/training content, informational needs, and task status

Snowflake Proficiency: Working knowledge of Snowflake concepts including databases, schemas, warehouses, performance considerations, and query optimization

Semantic Layer awareness: Strong understanding of semantic layer concepts such as measures, dimensions, synonyms, and relationships and experience configuring data packages in at least one BI tool (E.G. LookML Model, PBI Semantic Model, Tableau PDS, Sigma Dataset, etc)

Engineering Best Practices: Strong background in software development lifecycles, including Git-based workflows, CI/CD, code reviews, and pre-merge checks

SQL & Python: Advanced SQL skills for complex transformations and a working knowledge of Python for orchestration and automation tasks
