Accounting Specialist – ACCOUNTING ADMINISTRATOR I (SPECIALIST)

Salary: $6,823.00 – $8,543.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired at minimum salary of the classification or alternate minimum as applicable.

This is a 12‑month limited‑term position and may be extended to a maximum of 24 months or may become permanent.

What will you do? As the Accounting Administrator I (Specialist), you will conduct business support services activities for the Fiscal and Business Services branch. You will work independently, use good judgment to produce accurate high‑quality work products, manage multiple tasks and priorities, meet due dates, establish effective relationships and have strong oral and written communication skills. Specifically, you will:

Maintain General Ledger Accounts and perform timely reconciliations.

Reconcile the Office’s revolving fund and analyze cash verification reports.

Perform month‑end and year‑end closing in accordance with control agency deadlines.

Research and resolve sensitive, complex accounting transaction issues to ensure compliance with state and Office policies.

Process vendor payments, prepare claim schedules, and resolve invoice disputes with vendors to ensure prompt payments.

Working Conditions

Eligible for the office’s hybrid telework program. Work at the alternate work location must be in California, in a private, ergonomically sound space with safe working conditions.

Office work is in an air‑conditioned high‑rise building with elevator access and natural/artificial lighting.

Work may require extended periods seated using a PC and standard office equipment (phones, copiers, scanners).

Year‑end accounting activities peak during July and August; overtime may be required. Periodic non‑standard hours and weekend work may be necessary.

This position does

not
