Orthopedic Trauma Unit IU Health Methodist's 4S Surgical Orthopedic Trauma Unit is a highly specialized, 29-bed medical surgical unit. 4S team members are trained in the care of patients presenting with a variety of orthopedic traumas, including, but not limited to, motor vehicle/motorcycle trauma, falls, crush injuries, joint repairs and replacements, and thoracolumbar surgeries.
Nursing skills gained on this unit:
Management of complex and varying patient diagnoses
Time management skills
Post operative surgical care skills
Prioritization of care
Become strong in foundational nursing skills
Adept communication with the multidisciplinary team
Unit Culture Highlights:

Qualifications
Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
