Position Description Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Columbus, Ohio.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Pay: $27.50 per hour

Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification up to $700

Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter

Sign On Bonus: $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days

Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday

Hours: Second Shift Tuesday–Friday, 2:00 pm–10:30 pm; Saturdays 7:00 am–3:30 pm

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Vocational/technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred

Basic tools required

Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines: routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) and component inspections and repairs

Combination of classroom training and work experience of at least 2 years

Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred

Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months of hire

Pass Ryder drug test

Pass DOT physical

Pass Ryder road test

Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for last 3 years

Responsibilities

Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, standard maintenance, component inspections and repairs, preventive maintenance

Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable

Identify root cause of failures and perform required repairs

Replace defective components as instructed

Perform facility maintenance duties

Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint

Use shop management system and electronic documentation

Work in accordance with federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)

Perform other support duties as required, e.g., service island support
