Position Description
Position type: Permanent Full‑Time.
Location: Ryder, Columbus, Ohio.
Immediate hiring for an experienced mid‑level diesel technician to support our truck fleet.

Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday, second shift Tuesday‑Friday 2:00 pm‑10:30 pm and Saturdays 7:00 am‑3:30 pm.
Hourly Pay: $27.50.
Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification up to $700.
Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 per quarter (four times per year).
Sign‑On Bonus: $1,250 after 30 days and $1,250 after 90 days.
Additional benefits: annual merit pay increases; on‑the‑job paid training; medical, dental, vision, 401 K starting after 30 days; 12 weeks paid maternity leave for qualifying employees; paid time off starting accreting at day one (80 hours/year); additional day off for U.S. military veterans; 401 K company match; 15 % employee discount on stock; PPE, uniforms, boot allowance; top technician recognition program; tuition repayment program up to $5,000.

This position requires driving Ryder vehicles.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree preferred.
Basic tools required.
Aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work).
Two or more years of combined classroom training and work experience in diesel engine maintenance (preferred).
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A preferred.
Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months of hire.
Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background/motor‑vehicle check, including verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.
Some positions may require additional screening (employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check; road test; badging).
Responsibilities
Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
Perform standard vehicle maintenance, component inspections, and preventive maintenance.
Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable.
Identify root cause of failures and perform required repairs.
Replace defective components as instructed.
Perform facility maintenance duties.
Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints.
Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation.
Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT).
Perform other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., service island support).
