Overview
The Second Assistant Golf Professional supports both the Head Golf Professional and First Assistant Golf Professional in delivering exceptional golf operations, member service, instruction, and tournament execution. This position plays a key role in maintaining high standards, supporting staff, and enhancing the overall member and guest experience at Laurel Golf Club. When the Head Golf Professional and First Assistant Golf Professional are both absent, the Second Assistant Golf Professional assumes responsibility for daily golf operations as directed.
Essential Responsibilities Golf Operations & Member Service
Assist the Head Golf Professional and First Assistant Golf Professional in planning, promoting, and directing daily golf operations.
Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a polished professional presence.
Interpret and enforce golf rules, pace-of-play standards, and club policies.
Perform starter duties including tee time management and player coordination.
Maintain visibility throughout the clubhouse, practice facilities, and golf course.
Collect fees for golf-related activities and assist with handicap administration.
Assume responsibility for daily golf operations in the absence of both the Head and First Assistant Golf Professionals.
Instruction & Player Development
Provide private and group instruction to members and guests.
Assist with junior golf programs, camps, clinics, and ladies' programs.
Contribute creative ideas to enhance instruction and member engagement.
Tournaments & Events
Assist with tournament planning, preparation, and execution.
Support event setup including cart staging, range preparation, scoring, and materials.
Assist with collecting and managing tournament funds.
Golf Shop & Merchandising
Assist with receiving, tagging, merchandising, and inventory control.
Perform basic club repair services including regripping.
Perform backroom and golf shop duties as needed.
Staff Leadership & Operations
Assist in supervising outside services, cart operations, and bag storage staff.
Help train staff and model professional service standards.
Operate the golf shop as directed.
Assist with snow removal and other operational duties as assigned.
Professional Development
Attend PGA Section meetings and educational seminars.
Maintain progress toward PGA Membership.
Commit to continuous learning and professional growth.
