Overview
The Senior Assistant Golf Professional plays a vital leadership role in the day-to-day operation of the golf program at Belle Haven. This position supports the Head Golf Professional in delivering an exceptional golf experience through outstanding service, professional instruction, organized event execution, merchandising, and staff development.
This is a hands‑on, people‑centered position that requires a polished presence, a passion for the game, and a commitment to excellence. The Senior Assistant is expected to lead by example and foster a positive, team‑oriented culture among the golf professional staff and outside operations team. The ideal candidate is a motivated individual with strong communication skills, a deep knowledge of the game and industry, and a desire to advance within the profession.
Experience Required Primary Responsibilities Member and Guest Services
Deliver first‑class customer service to all members and guests.
Greet players, assist with check‑in, tee times, and coordinate daily play.
Promote a welcoming and professional atmosphere on and off the course.
Tournament and Event Operations
Assist in the planning, organization, promotion, and execution of member tournaments, outside outings, and club events.
Lead tournament scoring, pairings, and results using Golf Genius or similar software.
Manage event logistics, including rules sheets, signage, formats, cart staging, and pace‑of‑play oversight.
Provide post‑event reporting and feedback for continuous improvement.
Golf Instruction and Player Development
Provide individual lessons, group instruction, junior clinics, and player development programs to members and guests.
Stay current with teaching techniques, technology (e.g., TrackMan, video analysis), and coaching methods.
Promote and support player development initiatives and grow the game programs.
Staff Leadership and Supervision
Assist in hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising Assistant Professionals, Interns, and Outside Operations staff.
Lead by example with professionalism, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
Act as a mentor to Assistant Professionals pursuing PGA membership.
Manage team morale and foster a positive, productive work environment.
Retail and Merchandising
Support daily Golf Shop operations including opening/closing procedures, sales, and inventory control.
Assist with buying, receiving, and merchandising of apparel, equipment, and accessories.
Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing retail environment.
Monitor trends, provide member feedback, and assist in year‑end inventory and sales analysis.
Golf Operations and Administration
Oversee the tee sheet, pace of play, and communication between the Golf Shop, starter, and outside operations.
Maintain accurate records for billing, tournament scoring, lesson income, and inventory.
Uphold and enforce club policies, dress code, and pace of play expectations.
Assist in managing the club's demo and fitting equipment inventory.
Essential Responsibilities
PGA Class A Member
(or actively pursuing membership; Level 2 or higher required).
3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably at a private or high‑end public facility.
Demonstrated success in customer service, tournament management, instruction, and team leadership.
Proficient in Golf Genius, ForeTees, Clubessential, Jonas, Microsoft Office, or other golf-related systems.
Strong communication, organizational, and time‑management skills.
Deep knowledge of the game of golf, equipment trends, and retail best practices.
Professional appearance and conduct at all times.
