Salary: $21.00 to $22.00 per hour | Telecommute Status: Onsite
The Human Resources Assistant provides a range of specialized administrative and clerical duties in support of the Human Resources function. Responsibilities include maintaining detailed employee data in HRIS and payroll systems, managing confidential employee files, providing benefit information to employees, and processing HR transactions.
Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Human Resources Assistant supports HR management by coordinating projects, assisting with recruiting, preparing reports, and handling special events. The role requires advanced administrative and organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records.
Typical Duties
Coordinate projects and assist with recruiting, preparing reports, and working on special events.
Assist employees in person and over the telephone with HR programs and services.
Enter detailed information into HRIS and payroll systems, including new hire data, benefit enrollments, performance appraisals, and personal information changes.
Advise managers and employees on procedural or factual matters such as benefit information, paperwork, and compliance.
Process background checks and enrollments, including I‑9 verification.
Administer FMLA/LOA processes, determining eligibility, calculating payments, and communicating with managers and employees.
Provide reception services: answer and route calls, greet visitors and employees, and verify employment data.
Maintain active and terminated employee files.
Maintain supply of new hire and employee benefit packages and brochures.
Administer vendor accounts, purchase orders, check requests, and invoices.
Prescreen candidates and coordinate interviews and recruiting processes with managers and staff.
Update job postings, advertisements, and applicant files.
Provide general administrative support, including routing mail and faxes, maintaining office supplies, and making travel arrangements.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Two to three years’ experience providing skilled customer service and clerical support, preferably in Human Resources.
Ability to communicate effectively and respond to questions and requests.
Effective written communication skills using appropriate business English.
Computer literacy to use business software, the Internet, enter and retrieve data.
Human relations skills to build effective working relationships.
Demonstrated customer service, problem‑solving, and common‑sense skills.
Education Requirements
Associate’s degree or High School Diploma (or GED). A comparable combination of formal education and work experience may be considered.
Physical Requirements
Viewing computer screen/monitor.
Utilizing keyboard.
Answering phone/making calls.
Work Environment
Office environment with normal noise levels and limited privacy.
