Role Overview
The dental assistant (surgical assistant) assists surgeons and restorative dentists so they can focus on delivering safe, premium patient care. Responsibilities include setup, surgical assistance, impressions, X‑rays, order placement, and patient interaction.

Take impressions and pour molds
Take patient photos
Perform X‑rays and cone‑beam scans
Schedule appointments in the scheduling platform
Set up and take down operation rooms, ensuring no one leaves the surgery room
Place orders for basic and implant supplies
Adjust and reline prosthesis
Assist the doctor during surgical implant procedures
Deliver pre‑ and post‑operative instructions
Perform sterilization and daily cleaning
Manage patient expectations and deliver top‑tier patient care
Qualifications
Registered Dental Assistant with all required certifications
BLS certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
Self‑starter who works well as part of a team
Patient‑centric with strong communication skills
Outgoing and empathetic
Flexible and quick learner
Great organizational skills and high level of office aptitude
A Day In The Life
Surgery prep and start: Prepare instruments and patients, meet the surgeon and CRNA, review expectations, assist with intubation and surgery.
Morning huddle: Review the day’s schedule and partner with the team to discuss specific patient needs.
Meet lab deadlines: Work efficiently to meet tight deadlines, ensuring patients receive prosthetics within 24 hours.
Overcoming obstacles: Problem‑solve daily challenges such as equipment issues, patient delays, and concerns to keep processes running smoothly.
Perform circular tasks: Order supplies, sterilize equipment, maintain compliance, and handle lab requests.
End of day: Complete surgery reports and prepare upcoming patients by reviewing charts and lab cases.
