Part-Time Accounting and Administrative Assistant Location: Ocean Township, NJ Job Type: Part-Time (Regular) Full-Time (Seasonal) Schedule: Flexible (in-office only) Off-Season (April - December): Approximately 10-20 hours per week. Tax Season (January - Mid-April): Mandatory full-time hours (20+ hours), including mandatory Sundays . Salary: [Competitive Hourly Rate, dependent on experience] Job Description We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Part-Time Accounting and Administrative Assistant to support our busy office operations. This role is ideal for entry-level candidates or those with administrative experience who are eager to learn the foundational aspects of bookkeeping and tax preparation. The position offers flexible hours outside of tax season but requires a commitment to a full-time, mandatory schedule during the intensive tax period. Key Responsibilities Perform daily administrative tasks, including file organization, managing correspondence, and scheduling client appointments. Handle high-volume data entry with accuracy into accounting software and firm databases. Execute light bookkeeping duties for small business clients. Assist with bank and credit card reconciliations in QuickBooks Online and Desktop platforms. Organize and review client documents (W-2s, 1099s, receipts) for tax filing preparation. Complete basic individual income tax returns (Form 1040) under direct supervision, following comprehensive firm training. Maintain client confidentiality and ensure compliance with office procedures. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; some college education in Accounting, Business, or Finance is a plus. Proficiency with basic office software (Microsoft Office/Google Workspace). Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively during peak season. Professional and courteous communication skills, both written and verbal. Willingness and ability to work mandatory Sundays and full-time hours during Tax Season (January-April). Prior experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software is helpful but not required (training provided).
