About the Role
We’re looking for a hands‑on HR Generalist to support our growing trucking operation. This role manages HR functions for both CDL drivers and office/shop staff, with a focus on payroll accuracy, HRIS upkeep, DOT compliance, and day‑to‑day employee support. Responsibilities
Driver & Employee Lifecycle
Manage full‑cycle recruiting for CDL drivers, shop technicians, and office staff
Coordinate DOT onboarding requirements: MVR/PSP, Clearinghouse, medical cards, drug tests, and road test documentation.
Lead new hire orientation and support on/off‑boarding process.
Compliance & Recordkeeping
Maintain accurate, audit‑ready Driver Qualification (DQ) files.
Track CDL, medical card, and endorsement expirations.
Administer drug & alcohol testing programs (pre‑employment, random, post‑accident, etc.).
Support updates to HR and safety policies (handbook, compliance memos, required postings)
Ensure company compliance with FMCSA, DOT, and federal/state employment regulations.
Payroll, HRIS & Benefits
Process payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Generate reports and dashboards for workforce analysis and compliance reporting.
Ensure system integrity through regular audits and data validation.
Assist with benefits enrollment, updates, and employee questions.
Employee Support & Culture
Support managers with performance documentation and employee relations needs.
Assist with driver engagement activities such as recognition and safety meetings.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
2+ years of HR generalist and payroll experience.
Experience supporting trucking, transportation, logistics, or a blue‑collar/shift‑based workforce.
Hands‑on experience with HRIS/payroll systems.
Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to compliance documentation.
Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
Excellent communication skills across diverse groups.
Preferred
Experience fast‑growth companies wearing multiple hats. Experience in trucking, transportation, logistics, or similar environments preferred.
Understanding of employment laws (wage/hour, overtime, EEO, leave laws).
Familiarity with transportation‑specific workflows such as shift scheduling, safety initiatives, and driver engagement.
Occasional business travel within Texas for driver onboarding and compliance needs.
