Manufacturing Engineer – Powertrain Casting Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer – Powertrain Casting Location: Jackson, TN Pay Rate: $35 – $40.57 / hour (W2 only) Job Type: Contract – 12 Months Job Description: About the Role: We are seeking a passionate and highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to support powertrain casting projects in a hands‑on manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for capital planning, equipment and tooling specifications, process development, and leading trials and quality confirmation activities for major powertrain programs. The engineer will support manufacturing objectives by delivering optimal equipment, tooling, and processes at the lowest cost while meeting production and quality targets. Key Responsibilities: Project Management – Lead pre‑production preparation for powertrain casting products such as aluminum cylinder blocks, transmission cases, housings, and future electrified components. Support development programs for next‑generation electrified vehicle components, including e‑axle cases and suspension members. Manage project scopes ranging from 12–24 months, including planning, budget development, equipment and die procurement, installation, and casting trials through SOP. Manage capital project budgets ranging from approximately $5M to $45M. Process Management – Study established manufacturing processes and develop localized operation drawings to support North American manufacturing requirements. Support additional manufacturing systems and process initiatives, including structured process development and goal‑aligned activities. Problem Solving – Build and manage active issue lists throughout project execution; apply structured problem‑solving methodologies to identify root causes and implement countermeasures; coordinate meetings, manage installation contractors, review technical materials, and drive consensus across stakeholders. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering or equivalent related experience (Mechanical, Metallurgical, Electrical, or similar). 3+ years of manufacturing or production preparation experience. 1+ year of experience supporting major model changes involving equipment, tooling, or process transfers. 1+ year of experience leading project teams with responsibility for milestone and task coordination. Preferred Qualifications: 3+ years of casting or metals‑ manufacturing engineering experience. Experience with high‑pressure die casting. Hands‑on experience with NC machining processes. Working knowledge of industrial robotics and PLC systems, including integration and troubleshooting. Experience using 2D/3D CAD tools for equipment layout and part or die modeling (e.g., AutoCAD, Creo, or similar). Proficiency in preparing capital project documentation, cost justifications, and executive presentations. Experience leading large‑scale manufacturing projects with multi‑million‑dollar budgets.
