Nursing Responsibilities
Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients
Administer medications
Perform medical intakes and assess patient fitness for incarceration, as needed
Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider when needed
Check and/or change medical dressings as required
Perform 14‑day physicals
Manage chronic care
Provide patient education on health concerns
Respond to medical emergencies and undertake life‑saving measures
Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology, including drug reactions, overdose, formulary/non‑formulary medications, and medication costs
Provide insight and direction to Medically Trained Personnel as needed
Comply with all current and future state, federal, and local laws and regulations
Location:
LaPorte County Jail
Shift opening(s):
6 AM to 6 PM, 3 days per week with every other weekend rotation
Pay Range:
$35‑$40+/hour based on experience
Bonus:
$4,000 ( $1,000 paid at 60 days, $1,000 paid at 6 months, $2,000 paid at 1 year )
Requirements
Valid RN licensure
Valid CPR certification
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently
Capacity to lift up to 50 pounds
