Join VCU Health as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (Outpatient Infusion – PRN) and help patients receive timely medication services.

Responsibility
Assist pharmacists in preparing, dispensing, and record‑keeping of medications for all age groups (neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric).
Transport prescribed medications to patients and ensure accurate documentation.
Use a standard keyboard with a typing speed of 20–30 words per minute.
Communicate effectively with all staff members and identify equipment or operational problems and bring them to the attention of a pharmacist or pharmacy manager.
Interact with other health care practitioners in a multidisciplinary environment.
Perform tasks designated by the pharmacist that do not legally require a pharmacist’s supervision or verification.
Qualifications
Current certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or valid ExCPT certification provided by National Health Career Association.
Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy.
Clean criminal record (no felony conviction; no drug or pharmacy related convictions, including misdemeanors; no denial, suspension, revocation, or restriction of registration or licensure by any State Board of Pharmacy).
Experience
One year previous pharmacy practice experience in a similar setting.
Education / Training
High school diploma or equivalent.
Additional Position Requirements
Must be available to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and emergency coverage.
Physical: Lifting 20–50 lbs.; Activities: Prolonged standing, sitting, frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing (steps, ladder, other), reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive).
Mental/Sensory: Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, speaking clearly, writing legibly, reading, logical thinking.
Emotional: Fast pace environment, steady pace, ability to handle multiple priorities, frequent and intense customer interactions, noisy environment, ability to adapt to frequent changes.
